Meet Erik

Erik McCormack

Erik is a musician, actor, and songwriter who began his professional career at the age of 13 touring nationally with Marie Osmond in The Sound of Music.   As a senior in high school, Erik made his Broadway debut as the Courier in the 1998 revival of 1776.  Erik returned to Broadway in 2001 as Joe Harper in the original Broadway cast of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

As both a solo musician and in various groups, Erik has performed his original music at many of Long Island’s top wedding venues, restaurants, and music halls.

WHY SUNNY SIDE UP?

Sunny side up is a group of like-minded and goal oriented musicians who strive to make entertainment families can enjoy together.

Erik has always enjoyed entertaining and creating quality content with substance for children because their feedback is honest, immediate, uninhibited. It is a fantastic way to introduce them to different styles of music song structure, and clever wordplay

A FEW FUN FACTS

• As a child, Erik was featured in commercials for Nickelodeon and McDonalds.

• He co-founded and ran a successful summer theater program for children and directed main stage productions for some of Long Island's leading community and regional theaters.

• Erik has opened for and shared the stage with Disney’s The Imagination Movers at the Paramount in Huntington and the Great South Bay Music Festival.  He has also performed his own original children’s material at libraries and schools across the island.

• Erik has quite a range when it comes to musical taste...  Everything from Sondheim to Slipknot.

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”

Matt Trinkwald

Meet Matt

Matt Trinkwald

Matt has spent more than 30 years making music and sharing it with others as an educator, performer, and musician. A professional upright and electric bassist, Matt has built his career around a quote by Frank Zappa: Wisdom is not truth. Truth is not beauty. Beauty is not love. Love is not music. Music is THE BEST.

As a dad and longtime music teacher, Matt brings both sides of that experience to Sunny Side Up. He loves creating songs that kids actually want to hear, and songs that parents won't mind hearing for the hundredth time.

WHY SUNNY SIDE UP?

Sunny Side Up grew from the idea that children's music can be educational, imaginative, funny, and genuinely musical all at once.

For Matt, it's a chance to combine some of the things he loves most: music, teaching, creativity, and being a father
